Work and live in Styria

Styria is given its name “the Green Heart of Austria” owing to its landscape: Almost 60% of the region’s over 16,000 km² are carpeted in lush forest.

In Styria, education and research play a major role. With a research rate of over 5%, the region ranks amongst the elite in Europe. This success is attributed to, amongst other things, the work of Styria’s manufacturing sector, the five universities, numerous research institutions and universities of applied sciences and their students, of which there are over 60,000.

Living
Life in Styria is just a bliss — this is how you could summarise the results of multiple surveys. According to a study of the bmm institute, 85.8% of Styrians rate their quality of life as good to very good, 95% describe Styria as an excellent living environment and 92% like living in the province. 83% are satisified with their jobs and 84% like the holiday and leisure activities offered in Styria.

Working
As an internationally renowned business location, Styria is home to several world-leading technology companies as well as 6 clusters that strengthen other sectors in the region. The biggest economic sector in Styria is the services industry, which accounts for 66.8% of the entire economically active population. 27.8% work in industry and trade, and 5.4% in agriculture and forestry.
